ACT Test Tips

Now that you have an idea of what the ACT Test is all about, you can start preparing for it. We've put together a few tips for taking the ACT test and what to expect on test day.

• Carefully read the instructions on the cover of the test.
• Read the directions for each test carefully.
• Pace yourself.
• Read each question carefully.
• Answer the easy questions first.
• Use logic to answer difficult questions.
• Answer every question — there is no penalty for guessing.
• Review your work.
• Mark your answers neatly.

Here is a list of test day procedures and what you can expect when you get to the testing center.

• Show up on time — you will not be admitted if you are late.
• A supervisor will check your photo ID and admission ticket.
• Testing begins after all test-takers are checked in.
• A break is scheduled after the first two tests.
• Tell the supervisor if you are unable to complete the test.

• Acceptable identification.
• Sharpened, No. 2 lead pencils with erasers.
• Wristwatch — to monitor time.
