When to take ACT Test?

Students usually take the ACT Test either their junior or senior year. Here at the U, we recommend taking it your junior year. Whatever day you choose, be sure to take the ACT Test at least two months before any of your application or scholarship deadlines -- it usually takes eight weeks to receive your test scores.

Here are a few advantages of taking the ACT Test your junior year:

  • You've probably completed the appropriate coursework.
  • Your scores may influence what you take your senior year.
  • Colleges can contact you with information the summer before your senior year.
  • You'll have plenty of info on colleges before you visit.
  • You'll have an opportunity to retest if you aren't satisfied with your scores.
