Preparing for GMAT

Nearly 200,00 students take the GMAT every year and your competition is with some of the best students from around the world. You can start preparing by becoming familiar with the mechanics of the test and the kinds of questions that are asked before you take the test. An Arco, Barrons or Kaplan book will help you prepare for the exam. You can either get any of the available CD-ROMs or answer practice tests online.

Improving your typing speed is essential, as you need to enter your essays on the computer using a word processor. In the essays, pay particular attention to grammar and punctuation.

Time management is essential. You have about 1 3/4 minutes for each verbal question and 2 minutes for each quantitative question. If you do not know the answer to a question, or it's too time-consuming to figure out, guess. You cannot skip a question and go back to it, or change your answer once you have moved on to the next question.
